1.Agreement to these Terms
By creating an account, making a purchase, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you download the app from Apple’s App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”) also applies. Where these Terms are more restrictive than the Apple EULA, these Terms control between you and us.
2.Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (or at least 16 where local law sets a higher minimum age for consenting to data processing, such as parts of the European Economic Area). If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. Purchases require you to be old enough to enter a binding contract, or to have your parent or guardian make the purchase.
You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under applicable law.
3.Accounts
Parts of the Service — including AI recipe generation, photo scanning, purchases, meal planning and cross-device sync — require an account. You can create one with an email address and password, or with Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. If you sign in with a provider whose email matches an existing Recipe Wizard account, the two are linked to the same account.
- You must give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your credentials confidential. Tell us at once at contact@recipe-wizard.com if you suspect unauthorized use.
- One person per account. Accounts may not be shared, sold, or transferred.
- We may decline, reclaim, or require you to change a username or profile detail that violates these Terms.
4.The Service
Recipe Wizard uses artificial intelligence and third-party services to generate recipes from text prompts and from photos of ingredients, shelves, receipts, recipe pages and dishes; to rewrite (“remix”) recipes; to estimate nutrition; to generate dish images; to import recipes from links; to plan meals and build grocery lists; and to guide you through cooking with spoken steps, voice commands, timers, Apple Watch mirroring, and Live Activities.
Features vary by device, operating-system version, region and plan. We may add, change, limit or remove features at any time (see Section 21). Some features depend on third-party services that we do not control and that may be unavailable from time to time.
5.AI-generated content
Recipes, remixes, cooking tips, ingredient detections, receipt readings, nutrition estimates and dish images may be produced by AI models. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or unsuitable for your circumstances, and may differ each time even for the same request. You are responsible for reviewing any AI output before you rely on it.
- Generated dish images are illustrative, are labelled as AI-generated in the app, and are not photographs of a dish you will produce.
- Ingredient and receipt scans only recognize what is visible and legible in a photo; always check your pantry before shopping or cooking.
- Similar or identical output may be provided to other users. We do not guarantee that generated content is unique or does not resemble existing recipes.
- Requests are screened for content that is not about food or cooking, or that is otherwise inappropriate. Rejected requests are not charged.
Your rights in output. Subject to these Terms and to the rights of any third party whose content you supplied, you may use the recipes and other text output generated for you for any purpose, including commercially. We claim no ownership of that output but retain all rights in the Service itself and in the models, prompts and systems that produce it.
6.Food safety, allergens & nutrition
- Allergens and dietary restrictions. The diet and allergy preferences you set are used as instructions to the AI; they are not a guarantee. Generated or imported recipes may still contain, omit, or fail to flag an allergen or an ingredient inconsistent with your diet (for example gluten, nuts, dairy, shellfish, or alcohol). Always verify every ingredient yourself. If you have a food allergy, intolerance, or a medical condition affected by diet, consult a qualified professional before relying on any recipe.
- Nutrition. Calorie and macronutrient figures are estimates generated by AI from typical ingredient values. They are not laboratory measurements and must not be used for medical, therapeutic, or regulated nutritional purposes.
- Food safety. You are solely responsible for safe food handling, storage, cooking times and internal temperatures, and for the safe use of knives, heat, appliances and pressure. Follow the guidance of your local food-safety authority where it differs from a recipe.
- Hands-free cooking. Voice commands, spoken steps, timers, Apple Watch mirroring and Live Activities are conveniences and may be delayed, missed or misheard. Do not rely on them as your only safety control while cooking.
7.Plans, credits & free allowance
The Service is offered on the following basis. Specific figures are shown in the app at the time of purchase.
Free tier
Free accounts receive a recurring allowance of AI recipe generations each calendar month (currently five), a one-time starter grant of credits, and may earn credits by watching rewarded ads. Unused monthly allowance does not roll over. The free tier shows advertising.
Credits
Credits are consumable units used for AI actions — currently one credit per full recipe generation, remix, or video/social import, and half a credit per photo or receipt scan. Credits may be bought in packs, earned from rewarded ads, or included with a plan. Purchased credits do not expire while your account is in good standing, and are not affected by cancelling or changing a plan or by switching between App Store and web billing. Credits bought in the app and on the web share one balance on your account. Credits have no cash value, are not currency, cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged, and are not refundable except where required by law or under the refund terms in Section 10.
Plus
Plus is an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or annual) that includes a set number of AI generations per billing month (currently 75), removes ads, and includes any other benefits described in the app. Included generations are a monthly allowance, not a balance: the allowance resets at the start of each billing month and whenever a plan starts or changes, unused generations do not roll over, and they end when the plan ends. They have no cash value and are not refundable. Once the monthly amount is used, purchased or earned credits are used.
Pro
Pro is an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or annual) with unlimited AI generations for personal use, subject to the fair-use rules in Section 11, and removes ads.
Remove Ads
A one-time purchase that removes advertising from the free tier. It does not add credits or generations and is separate from any subscription.
Plans and credits belong to the Recipe Wizard account that was signed in when you bought them and are available wherever you sign in to that account, on iPhone or on the web. An App Store purchase is also linked to the Apple ID that paid for it. Signing in a different way (for example with Apple’s “Hide My Email” instead of your email address) can create a separate account with its own plan and credits. Credits and plan benefits are forfeited if your account is terminated for breach of these Terms.
8.Billing, renewals & cancellation
You can buy a plan, credit packs or Remove Ads in two places:
- In the iPhone app, processed by Apple through the App Store using the payment method on your Apple ID. Apple is the seller for these purchases.
- On the web at recipe-wizard.app, processed by Stripe, Inc. and its affiliate Link, which act as the seller (merchant of record) for these purchases, collect any applicable sales tax or VAT, and send your receipts. Your card statement may show “LINK.COM* RECIPE WIZARD”.
We never receive or store your full card details, whichever way you pay.
- One plan per account. An account can have one active plan at a time, billed either by Apple or on the web. While a plan is active you cannot buy a second one on the other. If an App Store plan starts while a web plan is active, the web plan ends immediately and the unused part of its current period is refunded pro rata to your original payment method. If a web plan is started while an App Store plan is active, the web plan is cancelled and refunded in full. Credit packs and Remove Ads can be bought either way at any time.
- Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, as selected) at the then-current price for your plan until you cancel. App Store plans must be cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period and are charged to your Apple ID within 24 hours before renewal. Web plans are charged to the payment method you gave at checkout on the renewal date.
- Free trials and introductory offers. Where offered, a trial converts to a paid subscription at the disclosed price at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends (at least 24 hours before for App Store trials). Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Eligibility for trials and offers may be limited to one per person, account or Apple ID.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time. An App Store plan is cancelled in your device’s Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions; a web plan is cancelled from “Manage subscription” on recipe-wizard.app. “Manage subscription” in the app takes you to the right place for your plan. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then and are not charged again.
- Upgrades and downgrades. Changing between Plus and Pro, or between monthly and yearly, may take effect immediately with a prorated charge or credit, or at the next renewal, depending on the direction of the change. App Store plans follow Apple’s subscription rules; web plans are upgraded immediately and downgraded at the next renewal.
- Restoring purchases. Use “Restore” in the app to re-apply App Store purchases made with the same Apple ID. Web purchases need no restoring: they appear wherever you sign in to the same account.
- Taxes. App Store prices may exclude taxes, which Apple applies according to your billing address. Web prices include any applicable sales tax or VAT, which Stripe/Link calculates from your billing address.
9.Price & plan changes
We may change the price of subscriptions, credit packs, Remove Ads and any other paid item, and may change what each plan includes — including the size of the free monthly allowance, the number of generations included with Plus, the credit cost of a given action, the rewarded-ad credit amount, and the fair-use limits that apply to Pro.
- Subscriptions. A price increase for a subscription you already have will not take effect until your next renewal after we give you notice, and never earlier than required by law or by Apple’s policies. Where Apple’s rules or applicable law require your affirmative consent to a price increase, your subscription will not renew at the new price unless you consent; otherwise, if you do not cancel before the renewal, the new price applies from that renewal. Notice may be given in the app, by email, or by Apple.
- One-time purchases. The price you pay for a credit pack or Remove Ads is the price shown at the time of purchase. Later price changes do not affect items you already bought.
- Plan contents. Changes to allowances, caps, credit costs or included features apply from the date stated in our notice, or from your next billing period for subscriptions. If a change materially reduces what your current subscription includes, you may cancel and it will end at the close of the current period.
- Regional pricing. App Store prices vary by country and currency and are set through the App Store. Web prices are set in U.S. dollars; your bank may convert them.
10.Refunds
App Store purchases. Apple is the seller of in-app purchases, so refund requests must be made to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Apple decides them under its own policies. We cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves.
Web purchases. Contact us at contact@recipe-wizard.com. Stripe/Link, as the seller of web purchases, may also issue refunds under its own policies, for example to resolve a dispute.
When a plan payment is refunded, the plan ends immediately. When a credit-pack payment is refunded, the credits from that pack are removed from your balance. Credits already spent, generations already produced, and partially used subscription periods are not refundable by us, except as described in Section 8 (switching between App Store and web billing) or where required by law. Nothing in this section limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory local law.
11.Fair use
“Unlimited” means unlimited for ordinary, personal, human use of the app. To keep the Service available and affordable for everyone, we may throttle, queue, temporarily suspend or, in serious cases, terminate access for usage that is inconsistent with that — for example:
- automated, scripted, or bulk generation, or use through anything other than the official app;
- sharing one account among several people or households;
- reselling, redistributing or commercially exploiting the generation capacity itself;
- usage far beyond what a person could plausibly cook or read (as a guide, more than several hundred generations in a month), or patterns designed to burden the Service;
- attempts to bypass credits, caps, moderation or rate limits.
We will normally warn you before taking action, except where the conduct is clearly abusive or affects other users.
12.Advertising
The free tier is supported by advertising served by third-party networks (currently Google AdMob). Rewarded ads are optional: a credit is granted only when the ad network confirms the ad was completed. Ads are provided by third parties; we do not endorse advertised products and are not responsible for them. Ad availability and the credits granted per ad may change. Subscribing to Plus or Pro, or buying Remove Ads, removes advertising. See the Privacy Policy for how advertising data is handled.
13.Apple, App Store & devices
- These Terms are between you and Astra Innovations LLC only — not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- The licence we grant you is limited, non-transferable, and lets you use the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store usage rules, including on your Apple Watch and via widgets, Live Activities and the share extension.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price of the app (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer-protection or similar claims.
- In the event of a third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual-property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for its investigation, defence, settlement and discharge.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
- Apple Watch mirroring, widgets, Live Activities and the share extension rely on features of Apple’s operating systems and on your device settings, and may behave differently across OS versions.
14.Your content
“Your Content” means everything you add to the Service: prompts and cravings, pantry items, photos you submit for scanning, profile photos, recipes you write or edit, ratings, meal plans, grocery lists, collections, links you import, and what you toss to kitchen friends or add to a shared household list.
- You keep ownership. We do not claim ownership of Your Content.
- Licence to us. So that we can operate the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, adapt (for example to scale servings, remix a recipe, or generate an image), display and back up Your Content, and to share it with the service providers we use to run the Service — only as needed to provide, secure and improve the Service and as described in the Privacy Policy. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for content you have made public, copies in routine backups for a limited period, and where we must keep it to comply with law.
- Public content. If you choose to make a recipe public or share it, it may be viewed, rated, saved and cooked by other users, and you grant us and them a licence to do so for as long as it remains public. Remove it to end future sharing; copies others already saved may persist.
- Your responsibilities. You represent that you have all rights needed to submit Your Content and grant this licence, and that it does not infringe or violate anyone’s rights or these Terms.
- Feedback. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without restriction or compensation.
15.Imported & third-party content
The import feature lets you paste or share a link to a recipe on a website or in a YouTube, Instagram or TikTok post; Recipe Wizard then extracts the recipe text for your personal use and lets you view the original source inside the app.
- Imported recipes are for your own personal, non-commercial use. You are responsible for ensuring your use of imported content respects the rights and terms of the source. Do not make imported content public unless you have the right to do so.
- Source videos and pages are played or displayed through the third party’s own player or site and remain subject to that third party’s terms and privacy policy. We do not host, own or control that content.
- Extraction is automated and may be incomplete or wrong, especially for spoken-only videos; the app offers a manual editor to finish an import.
- The Service may contain links to third-party websites, apps or advertisers. We are not responsible for them, and linking does not imply endorsement.
17.Acceptable use
You agree not to, and not to help anyone else to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, harmful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or dangerous, or to generate content of that kind;
- submit prompts or photos that are not about food, cooking or your kitchen, or that contain other people’s personal data without their permission;
- infringe anyone’s intellectual-property, privacy or other rights;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, crawl or copy the Service or its models, prompts, or data, except where the law expressly allows it;
- access the Service through automated means, bots, or modified clients, or interfere with rate limits, credits, moderation or purchase verification;
- circumvent, disable or interfere with security or with advertising (including rewarded-ad verification);
- impersonate anyone, misrepresent your affiliation, or use another person’s account;
- use kitchen-friend requests, invite links, tosses or shared lists to spam, harass or pressure anyone, or post invite links publicly to collect strangers;
- upload malware or anything that could damage or overload the Service;
- use the Service to build a competing product or to train AI models; or
- resell, rent or sublicense the Service.
18.Intellectual property
The Service — including the apps, website, design, branding, the Recipe Wizard name and logo, illustrations, animations, code, curated recipe catalogue, and all underlying technology — is owned by Astra Innovations LLC or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. Except for the limited licences expressly granted in these Terms, we reserve all rights. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property to you. Third-party names and logos (including Apple, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok) belong to their owners and are used for identification only.
19.Copyright complaints
We respect intellectual-property rights and respond to notices under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act and similar laws. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to contact@recipe-wizard.com with “DMCA” in the subject line, including: identification of the work; identification and location of the material; your contact details; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We may remove content and may terminate repeat infringers.
20.Suspension & termination
- By you. You may stop using the Service at any time and may request deletion of your account by emailing contact@recipe-wizard.com from the account’s email address (or, where available, from Settings in the app). Cancel any subscription first — with Apple for an App Store plan, or from “Manage subscription” on recipe-wizard.app for a web plan; deleting an account does not cancel a subscription.
- By us. We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us, or if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service.
- Effect. On termination your licence ends and we may delete Your Content and any unused credits or benefits. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 5–6, 14, 18, 22–27) survive.
21.Changes to the Service & Terms
We are constantly improving Recipe Wizard and may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, including the AI models and third-party providers we use. Where a change materially reduces a paid feature, Section 9 applies.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, give you reasonable advance notice in the app or by email (normally at least 14 days). By continuing to use the Service after the effective date you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription before the change takes effect.
22.Disclaimers
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT (INCLUDING AI-GENERATED CONTENT, IMPORTED CONTENT AND NUTRITION ESTIMATES) ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY RECIPE IS SAFE, SUITABLE FOR YOUR DIET OR ALLERGIES, ACCURATE, OR WILL PRODUCE ANY PARTICULAR RESULT. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE AND ANYTHING YOU COOK OR EAT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such exclusion is prohibited.
23.Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ASTRA INNOVATIONS LLC, ITS MEMBERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL OR USE, OR FOR THE COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, HOWEVER CAUSED AND UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US THROUGH THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, AND (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US$50).
These limits apply to the maximum extent permitted by law; some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.
24.Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Astra Innovations LLC and its members, officers, employees, agents and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: Your Content; your use of the Service; your breach of these Terms; your violation of any law or of anyone’s rights; or anything you cook, serve or consume as a result of using the Service. We may assume the exclusive defence of any matter subject to indemnification, in which case you agree to cooperate with us.
25.Disputes, arbitration & class waiver
Informal resolution first
Before starting arbitration or any proceeding, you agree to email us at contact@recipe-wizard.com with your name, account email, a description of the dispute and the relief you seek, and to try in good faith to resolve it with us for at least 30 days. We will do the same.
Binding arbitration
If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service (“Dispute”) will be resolved by final and binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules then in effect. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this agreement to arbitrate. The arbitrator, not a court, decides arbitrability, except that a court decides the enforceability of the class-action waiver. Arbitration will be conducted by a single arbitrator, in English, in the county where you live or by video or telephone where the rules permit. Fees are governed by the AAA rules; if your claim is for US$10,000 or less, we will pay the filing and arbitrator fees unless the arbitrator finds the claim frivolous. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
Class action and jury waiver
YOU AND WE AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, CONSOLIDATED OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING, AND THAT BY AGREEING TO ARBITRATE, EACH WAIVES THE RIGHT TO A TRIAL BY JURY. The arbitrator may award relief only to the individual party seeking relief and only to the extent needed to resolve that party’s claim.
Exceptions
Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies, and may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in court to protect intellectual-property rights or to stop unauthorized use of the Service. Nothing here prevents you from raising issues with a government agency or, where law gives you the right, from bringing a claim in court.
30-day opt-out
You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing contact@recipe-wizard.com with the subject “Arbitration opt-out,” your name and account email, within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.
Severability of this section
If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim (and only that claim) will proceed in court under Section 26, and the rest of this section still applies to all other claims.
26.Governing law
These Terms and any Dispute are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, and the Federal Arbitration Act, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. For any matter not subject to arbitration, you and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Florida, and waive any objection to that venue — except that consumers resident in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another jurisdiction whose law gives them the right to bring proceedings where they live may do so and may rely on mandatory consumer-protection rules of that jurisdiction.
27.General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and any additional terms shown in the app for a specific feature are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and replace any earlier agreements.
- Severability. If any provision is held invalid, the rest remains in effect and the provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, sale of assets or by operation of law.
- Electronic communications. You consent to receive communications from us electronically, in the app or by email, and agree that they satisfy any legal requirement that a communication be in writing.
- Export control. You agree to comply with U.S. and other applicable export and sanctions laws when using the Service.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages of third-party AI, hosting, payment or advertising providers.
- California residents. Under California Civil Code §1789.3, you may contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs in writing at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by telephone at (800) 952-5210.
- Language. These Terms are written in English; any translation is for convenience only.
